The Jujubee

After we had Stephen, Joy wanted to have one more baby. She wanted a little girl. I said no and said we were through having children. I didn’t think I could earn enough to provide for any more. Joy would just not let go of the idea to have one more child. I asked her if she realized how old I would be when a new child would be twenty-one. Joy simply said that I would be the exact same age twenty-one years after her birth as I would be if she wasn’t born.
I really was worried about being able to provide for another child. It didn’t take Joy too long to convince me that we should have another child. She asked me to pray about it. I hate it when Joy asks me to pray about something.
We started planning for a new child, but there was none coming. After quite a while Joy was pregnant with a little girl. A few months later our oldest daughter Anna let us know that she was expecting her first child. So, we would soon have an aunt and niece combination joining our family. In my case it was to be a daughter and granddaughter.

The births of our daughter and then our granddaughter were such blessed events. They seemed to just go together like a pair of bookends.
Julia was such a blessing in our home. Everyone wanted to hold her and take care of her in church and many other times. Sometimes the older girls were mistaken for her mother. They really spoiled her. They got older and moved away from home, and Julia was left alone, void of any siblings. She would often tell us that she wanted a little sister, not a brother, but a sister. She would have to do with nieces.
I had the opportunity to teach her in home school. There was a group that got together to teach their children. It was pretty fun for her parents as well as for her. Some of her siblings thought that she might be falling behind because of home school, so we had her go to school half a day to Cherry Hill, the elementary just down the street from us. She took the tests at the end of school and was the top student in her grade. So, I’m guessing that home school didn’t hurt her too much.
She also attended a private school, Liahona Preparatory Academy, and when she graduated, she received one of the two scholarships offered from there. She also got one to go to Snow College. She attended there and when she graduated with an associate degree, she went to Weber College in Ogden, Utah. She is now a manager for a group called Dish One and has been there for several years.
She has always done her best to take care of me. She is a loving, beautiful, intelligent daughter. I really love being around her and doing things with her. She seems to know how to touch the hearts of all that know her. She always wants to help those in need. Julia is truly fantastic in all she does. She is our baby girl.
