Making Things Up

Nate was not always that enamored with high school, but I was of the opinion that if I had to go to school each day, he should too. Nate was too much involved in his own life of acting. He loved drama in junior high and also in high school, not really enjoying many of the academic classes.

Nate chose a different path, one that was great for him and his future. He went to Florida and was in the Burt Reynolds theater. While there he met the woman who he was to marry a few years later, Kathleen Kenny.
Kat moved to Salt Lake City and registered at the University of Utah in the drama field. Nate came with her, and even though he was not a student, he was in a couple of the productions at the university. He continued his study of the arts as he worked at the restaurant, Fridays, for the four years as did Kat. They had the typical student experience, lots of work, little food to eat, and no money. Having survived this for four years they moved back to Florida.
Nate continued to take acting classes and worked on improv and now teaches classes and is in a couple of groups that perform improv. He is great to watch and I like to be in an audience when he performs. He has graduated in drama and continues to take classes and workshops to hone his skills.
He is blessed with a fantastic sense of humor and has fantastic facial expressions. He still works at Fridays to earn some money. This pandemic has been especially difficult for him and his wife. The theater that they work from has been closed because of Covid-19, but Nate and Kat are still doing things on the internet.
The path he has chosen is different than what I had imagined when he was a young child, but it is a very rewarding path. I totally support the path he has taken in the drama field, and I think that it must be exciting for him to be able to be in it with his wife and companion Kat.
Even though Nate didn’t like school he has continued with education for all of this time. If I don’t tell him that it is school, he might just continue forever. He is destined to become one of the best at making things up as a great improviser. Nate is loved by his whole family. He is a peacemaker.
